A New Kind of Thinking

I'm Anthony Pegram and I am running for BART Board District 3 seat on November 6, 2012. I have been a resident of the Bay Area for more than 40 years and am a licensed Civil Engineer with a Masters Degree from Golden Gate University in San Francisco. I am also a Principal Contract Specialist for the San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit District (BART) and have over 20 years of service to the agency and the community that we serve. Having participated in the development of major BART projects including the San Francisco and Oakland Airport Extensions, the East Contra Costa County Extension, Rail Vehicle Rehabilitation and Rail Car Procurement projects.

I am a strong proponent of improving sub-contracting opportunities for all small, women and minority owned disadvantaged businesses enterprises, having participated in the passing of legislation with then State Assemblywoman, Barbara Lee, that increased opportunities for small business contracting. I've also helped to shape and implement policy for Title VI requirements of the 1964 Civil Right Act addressing equity for minority and disadvantaged individuals that take place in all policy decisions concerning BART operations today.

My career includes serving more than 12 years on City and County boards including the Landmarks Preservation Advisory Board, Planning Commission and Base Reuse Authority. I am also a member and past president of the Alameda County Fair Association and as a candidate for BART Board District 3, I will bring experience, innovation and fiscally sound judgment to the seat to support and serve the needs of all BART riders.
